The company gained widespread popularity with games like Sid Meier's Civilization, X-COM: UFO Defense, and Railroad Tycoon. MicroProse was also known for its attention to detail and realism in its games, setting a high standard for the industry. The company was eventually acquired by Spectrum HoloByte in 1993, and later by Hasbro Interactive in 1998. Despite its influence in the gaming world, MicroProse ceased operations in 2003. However, the brand has recently been revived, and new games are being released under the MicroProse name.
